Case Study

The Grand Hybrid Hotel

The ceiling coves featured curved architectural mouldings with radii as tight as 80 mm, making rigid linear fixtures impossible. The client also demanded Ra≥95 colour rendering to make the Calacatta marble and rose gold finishes read accurately under both day and night conditions, with DALI scene control across the lobby, bar and corridor zones.

The Grand Hybrid Hotel is a newly renovated luxury property in central Vienna. The design team, led by a Munich-based studio, specified a lighting scheme that would honour the building's 19th-century neoclassical bones while introducing a thoroughly modern, intimate atmosphere. Light needed to feel continuous, unbroken by fixture housings, and true to the warm marbles and brass accents used throughout the public areas.

Our Solution

Our Solution We supplied over 680 metres of CobFlex 528-HCRI (Ra>97, 2700K, 24V) mounted in slim, extruded aluminium profiles with curved corners custom bent on-site. A companion run of CobFlex 480-24V at 3000K handled corridor wallwashing. All zones are driven by DALI-2 power supplies with 0.1–100% dimming and four programmed scenes (Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Night).
